"It’s very satisfying to be able to give something back to the community." I fell in love with music when I was a kid in a cot as Mum always had the radio going during the day. I can just remember morning and afternoon radio serials, as well as the variety/entertainment radio programmes that held the entire family’s attention in the evening before TV was introduced in Australia in 1956. Then – when the Beatles arrived in 1963 - I knew where my life was heading. My radio style was heavily influenced by the original 2SM Good Guys (Phil Haldeman, John Brennan and Mike Walsh became very highly respected influencers). As a teenager I used to write gags for Dave Allen, who was a Sydney TV host at the time, which probably explains why my humour is just a little off-centre! Followed the dream and entered commercial radio in 1966, working in several markets before settling on the Central Coast in the mid-90s. Left pro-radio in 2005, and was invited to join Coast FM about 10 years later. Enjoying every minute of it. David's Programs Wednesday mornings 9 - noon, Thursday Big Breakfast 6 – 9am, Sounds of Musical Theatre: Sundays Fortnightly 6 – 8pm.Wednesday mornings is a magazine format, with occasional interviews with Central Coast Council heavies, community organisers and national entertainers, and lots of Classic Hits.Thursday Big Breakfast is lots of community info, fuel prices, cinema box office top 5, some gags and laughter and lots of Classic Hits. The Sounds of Musical Theatre features two hours of the best songs from the best musicals, over the past 80 years (think Rodgers & Hammerstein through to Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber), with news of some local and national theatre productions.
