Brian Dye

Presenter

Brian Dye's lifelong passion for music began in the 1960s, with a preference for The Yardbirds, The Animals, and Santana over The Beatles and Rolling Stones. His deep connection to music was evident even in high school, where he sang on the football field.

The 1970s expanded his musical tastes to include Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Cat Stevens, and James Taylor. An adventurous hitchhike to the first Sunbury Festival in 1972, where he saw Billy Thorpe live, left an unforgettable mark on him.

The 1980s saw Brian's devotion to U2, his favourite band, flourish. He also embraced the era's vibrant sounds, including INXS, Simple Minds, Mondo Rock, and Icehouse, which he considers the most exciting musical decade.

In retirement, Brian has taken up the ukulele, performing in places like Hawaii, New Zealand, and across New South Wales. This new passion has brought him joy and strengthened his bond with his wife.

Brian has been a cornerstone of community radio for over 15 years, joining Coast FM in 2019. A versatile presenter, he contributes to programs like Island Time and Drive Times. His dedication reflects his love for community, creativity, and the shared joy of music.
